Building Process
How We Build at Barndago
Building your pole barn, garage, shop or barndominium in Colorado isn't just about blueprints and boards, it's about bringing your vision to life, with a process that's transparent, tailored, and stress free. Here is our Step-by-step post frame construction process.
Discovery & Consultation
We start by listening. What do you want from your space? A weekend retreat? A full-time home? A multi-use building? We define your goals, review your site, and guide you through what’s possible.
Design & Estimate
Our team works with you to design a barndominium that fits your lifestyle and your budget. You'll get a 3D model and a detailed quote with options and upgrades clearly outlined—no surprises.
Permits & Pre-Construction
We help navigate permitting and site planning, including grading, utility prep, and any code-specific requirements. Our team lines up materials and labor while you finalize finishes.
Site Prep & Foundation
The groundwork begins—literally. We handle excavation, leveling, and concrete pour. Precision at this stage sets the tone for everything that follows.
Framing & Structure
Watch your building rise! We install posts, framing, and trusses, followed by the roof and walls. The shell comes together quickly, revealing your new space in real time.
Exterior Finishes
From siding to windows, doors to trim—we make it weather-tight and good-looking. You’ll choose the finishes; we’ll make sure they’re installed with excellence.
Interior Build-Out (Optional)
If Barndago is handling your interior, this is where it gets personal—kitchens, bathrooms, walls, utilities, and everything in between.
Final Walkthrough & Turnover
We do a comprehensive walkthrough with you to make sure every detail meets expectations. Then we hand over the keys—with our ongoing support just a phone call away.
Frequently Asked Questions.
The timeline can vary depending on the size of your building, permitting, site readiness, and weather. On average, from signed contract to completion, most projects take 6 to 10 weeks once a permit is secured. We’ll give you a realistic schedule during the proposal phase.
You don’t need much! We recommend having a general idea of:
Your property location, Desired building size and purpose (shop, garage, barn, etc.) Any must-have features (overhangs, doors, insulation, etc.) We’ll guide you through the rest. If it helps try out our 3D Designer to provide a starting point but this step is not required, we will be happy to do that for you.
Not at all. Many of our clients start with just a rough idea. We help you design a structure that fits your goals, site conditions, and budget.
Yes. We’re experienced in navigating local codes and permitting requirements across Colorado and parts of Wyoming. We can include permit handling as part of your proposal if needed.
We can either coordinate that work with trusted subcontractors or handle it through our site prep division. During the site visit, we’ll assess what’s needed and include it in your proposal if requested.
Minor adjustments can sometimes be made, but significant design or scope changes after contract signing may affect the price or schedule. We encourage open communication early in the process to avoid surprises.
We don’t offer in-house financing, but we can recommend trusted lenders who are familiar with structuring a loan for a pole barn or a custom home build loan. We’re happy to help guide you through the process.
